The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the national not-for-profit association established in 1863 that represents over 89,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia, and uniformed services is seeking a Marketing Assistant to join our Marketing and Communications team located at our Headquarters office in Schaumburg, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago.
The Marketing Assistant will report to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer and will provide administrative and organizational support to the Chief Marketing and Communications Officer and divisional staff as needed. The administrative and organizational support can include meeting planning; maintaining calendars; coordinating programs; arranging travel plans; completing expense reports; tracking divisional budget; assisting with conference logistics; and additional projects as assigned. The Marketing Assistant will also be responsible for assisting the Membership and Field Services Division and the Convention and Meeting Planning Division on a seasonal basis.
An associate’s degree, with a minimum of 5 years of related work experience is required. Not-for-profit experience is preferred. Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to positively interact with staff, volunteer leadership and the public are critical. We require working experience and knowledge in Microsoft Office applications, spreadsheets and databases. Must be highly organized with extreme attention to detail, and able to multi-task, with the ability to adjust and redirect attention quickly and accurately. Capability of handling confidential information is essential. The flexibility to work after regular business hours, including weekends, and travel on behalf of the AVMA, as needed, is required.
