EDUCAUSE (http://www.educause.edu), a highly creative, entrepreneurial, national nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education through the use of information technology, invites applications for the position of Event Marketing Specialist to support the Marketing Department. This is a full-time, exempt position located in Louisville, CO; pay rate commensurate with experience.
The Event Marketing Specialist is responsible for creating and implementing promotional plans and associated tactics for EDUCAUSE products and services with a focus on face-to-face and online conferences, as well as numerous professional development programs and services that support EDUCAUSE goals, programs, and initiatives. The position uses a variety of marketing channels with a primary focus on e-mail and social media marketing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides the strategic marketing vision for EDUCAUSE conferences – both online and face-to-face
Leads creation and implementation of product/service/benefit development, marketing and communication strategies for educational conferences
Improves overall conference experience via purchasing experience, benefit mix, and communication
Works in tandem with internal stakeholders; effectively collaborates with stakeholders and various teams
Explores conference registration trends and identifies target markets
Serve as brand guardian, ensuring promotional brand compliance
Coordinate promotions for print and other channels
Provide promotional copy, visuals, etc. for the products and services managed for the EDUCAUSE At-a-Glance newsletter
Operations and Process Management
Organize, prepare, and implement marketing promotional plans and associated tactics in alignment with the association’s brand and business and marketing objectives for assigned projects
Coordinate, implement, and monitor digital marketing campaigns, including social media, email, and website
With assistance from marketing staff, develop and execute a plan to monitor, analyze, and distribute analysis of key metrics for assigned products and segments
Management and Supervision
In support of the marketing team, provide daily guidance and supervision to one Marketing Coordinator to ensure completion of agency timecard submission and approval, and event support tactics
Provide direct supervision and coaching/development for Marketing Coordinator and lead working groups, committees, or other member collaborations as required
Support staff through execution and adherence to association management policies and operating practices/processes
Assist with creation of and adhere to departmental budget and expense management practices
Monitor and approve timecard and association-provided credit card statement of direct reporting staff in strict observance of established association timelines
Service and Support
Assist the department in improving upon and implementing marketing initiatives and processes; serves the overall association as a copy writing resource for departments
Participate in EDUCAUSE events and activities including the Annual Conference as requested
Participate as a member of the marketing Campaign and Publishing (CAP) team
Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field
5+ years experience in managing marketing and/or business development, preferably in product development efforts for associations, higher education, or other education-oriented industries
Online and face-to-face conference/event marketing experience strongly preferred
Minimum of one year supervisory experience
One year in e-mail and web analytics desired
Nonprofit or association experience preferred but not required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Strong writing skills
Project management skills
Understands design best practices and has familiarity with managing projects with design teams (either internal or external)
Exceptional strategic, analytical, and organizational skills
Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and flexible in a fast-paced work environment
Experience using social media to implement marketing strategy
Experience with email creation software and/or electronic mass communication platforms
Demonstrates entry-level management skills (one direct report)
Basic knowledge of HTML code, web content management tools, and general web-based design
Proficient computer skills are required. Applications and tools include:
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photo Editor, etc.)
Basic HTML code and web content management tools
E-mail management system
Google Products (Apps and Analytics)
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams
