Responsible for understanding the economic and competitive dynamics of the fiber laser markets; including but not limited to the cutting and welding, military aerospace, sensing, and medical markets. The position must attain and employ a working knowledge of the OFS Fiber Laser Products, their interoperability, and configurations to consult and developed solutions for Customers. Develop and implement marketing plans and achieve profitable growth of the product line. Responsibilities are performed with broad direction from the Director of Marketing for OFS Specialty and include documenting market and competitive trends, developing product roadmaps, setting product requirements for new product developments, championing New Product Introduction (NPI), revenue forecasting, and managing product profitability.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and implements multifaceted fiber laser business plan. Makes and directs new product proposals / development. Develops pricing for new products. Determines appropriate sales channel(s). Conducts Customer and Market research (Voice of the Customer).
Lead cross-functional product teams to carry out the product executions plans including technology transfer from R&D to manufacturing
Develops alliances for outsourcing or partnering. Participates in formulating strategy and executing plans for IP licensing.
Regarded as customer advocate, develops and maintains strong customer relationships, knows and understands the needs of the customers’ customers. Gathers, analyzes and communicates information on the competition. Conduct Sales personnel training.
Working closely with OFS R&D teams on the development of technical roadmaps to create the products that will ensure OFS’ leadership in the fiber laser componentry area.
Defining new product and marketing opportunities, managing the marketing mix with respect to focused markets, and developing effective promotional campaigns.
Relationship building and management, communications, persuasion and organizational skills are required.
Travel 20-30%, alone or with other SPD team members, visiting customers, trade shows, etc.
Knowledge and Experience Requirements
Master’s Degree in Business, Marketing or Engineering and 5-10 years’ experience of optics based product management. Experience in technology transfer, from R&D to Manufacturing, a plus.
Highly developed technical capabilities and understanding of fiber lasers and the market place.
Effective communication (verbal and written), team building, customer, sales management and negotiating skills required.
