The Director of Marketing and Communications is directly supervised by the College Dean. He/she will provide leadership for internal and external communications to over 600 faculty and staff and more than 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students in the College. He/she will also lead external marketing and communications initiatives that are critical to advancing the reputation and external profile of the College, including initiatives designed to attract a highly competitive pool of undergraduate and graduate applicants. Both internal and external communications and marketing efforts are intended to disseminate accomplishments of faculty, staff, and students, and articulate the College Dean's vision to a variety of College stakeholders in the College, among the alumni base, and within and outside the University community. External communications also support the Dean in a variety of communications and strategic initiatives that enhance the Dean's ability to pursue advancement and programmatic opportunities. The Director uses his/her background in marketing and communications to produce creative and compelling written, graphical, and video content for deployment in print and electronic media, including traditional, webbased and social media formats. The Director uses his/her knowledge of the academic enterprise, faculty expertise areas in the College and University, and development and advancement priorities to create proposals, presentations, white papers, and other communications that are compelling to the target audiences. The Director oversees staff members and manages contractors as needed to provide a unified marketing and communications approach that moves seamlessly from internal to external audiences and across delivery platforms.
Bachelors degree required in marketing, communication, journalism or closely related field Masters degree preferred
6 8 years of experience in marketing and/or communications, preferably in higher education, nonprofit or corporate environment
Highest-level English writing skills, with demonstrated ability to write on a wide variety of topics and to adapt style for a range of audiences, using correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, editing, formatting, and proofreading. Two to four years of experience writing in a professional environment, preferably in the technology and/or higher education fields.
Demonstrated success in positioning academic research and teaching content in mass and popular media outlets
Demonstrated success in using analytical, judgment and problemsolving skills to determine needs and arrive at consistently sound conclusions
Demonstrated research, data gathering and interview skills to compose effective written materials
Organizational experience and skill implementing systems in a large, bureaucratic, multidepartment environment preferred
Expertise with Microsoft Office programs, including Word and Excel and the ability to learn database programs
Bouv College of Health Sciences, the largest health sciences college in the greater Boston metropolitan area, has over 200 faculty members, with approximately 2,000 undergraduate and 2,400 graduate students. The Arnold S. Goldstein Simulation Laboratories Suite opened in September 2013 and provides a state-of-the-art simulation center for interprofessional education.
