The Ellis School, Pittsburgh, PA’s only pre-kindergarten to grade 12 all-girls school, seeks an accomplished technology professional with a communications background to start on August 1, 2018 as its Digital Marketing and Communications Manager. Working closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications and in collaboration with other key stakeholders, the ideal candidate will bridge the technical components of website management with creative marketing to generate the most effective and efficient online presence for the School for both internal and external audiences. User experience will be at the forefront of all efforts in this position taking into account customer needs. The ideal candidate will revel in data generated through analytics tools to advocate for improving site performance, enhancing marketing efforts, and improving user experience. The candidate will have an understanding of target audiences and how to generate quality traffic that leads to conversions as part of successful marketing efforts and understand that aesthetics play a role in user experience. They will be primarily responsible for the development, review and maintenance of Ellis’ digital communications systems. The candidate will have search engine optimization experience; an understanding of user behavior, information architecture, and analytics; marketing experience; and good design sense. In addition to proficiency with sophisticated content management systems, web-based analytics tools, and creative software, the ideal candidate should have knowledge of marketing campaigns, publicity and promotional practices, and be literate in industry-standard hardware and software.
Assist with the execution of the school’s strategic marketing plan by assuming the role of project lead on digital communications priorities, as assigned by the Director of Marketing and Communications.
Engage stakeholders and work collaboratively with colleagues, other school departments, and outside vendors in order to continuously improve the School’s online communication methods and presence.
Create user-friendly documentation and training materials for content developers across campus and possess the ability to communicate complex technical information.
Create updates, analysis, and optimization of online communications using CRM, CMS, and related online systems.
Test online content and email marketing materials, investigate cause of issues found during testing, and identify solutions.
Track performance of and provide regular metrics reports on SEO, AdWords, and social media.
Generate written content for digital platforms.
Design and format graphics, documents, and multimedia assets for web use
Photograph and/or video school events, as needed and manage digital asset archives.
Keep pace with industry trends and developments and present research, best practices, and recommendations for further innovation.
Enthusiasm about working in a school setting.
Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years professional experience in project management, web maintenance, or digital marketing.
High level of initiative, proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team, good time-management skills, and ability to work within tight deadlines.
Solid knowledge of SEO, Google Analytics, HubSpot, Hootsuite, Adobe Creative Suite, and Google Apps.
Superb written/oral communication skills and experience communicating with diverse audiences.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills required.
Interest/experience in graphic design, digital photography, and video production preferred.
Curiosity and a willingness to learn new skills.
