The Project Manager position is a member of the award-winning Alumni Marketing team, which promotes alumni and donor understanding and recognition of Indiana University; builds and strengthens lifelong relationships with Indiana University; and works to increase engagement, volunteerism, and philanthropic support of Indiana University.
Located in our Indianapolis office, the Project Manager provides project management and production coordination to internal IU Alumni Association marketing clients. This position coordinates clients' job requests submitted to the Alumni Marketing department, and updates and maintains an electronic project log. Understanding how to effectively organize and prioritize projects and multitask is critical. As a large job focus is email, web, and social media promotions, a keen understanding of digital marketing and content management platforms is required. Experience in social media advertising is a plus.
In addition to coordinating requests, this position works directly with internal clients to develop strategy and creative concepts. The ideal candidate will be resourceful; able to offer constructive feedback; and able to turn big ideas into executable plans. This individual must be comfortable offering a marketing perspective in planning meetings and enforcing established marketing brand guidelines and marketing department process.
The Project Manager must cultivate relationships with alumni, external organizations, and internal constituents; learn the IUAA mission and be knowledgeable about alumni relations; and organize multiple tasks and priorities while acting as liaison between departments on different campuses to foster collaboration on various projects. The ability to relate to a wide variety of people, from seasoned professionals to enthusiastic students, is key to this staff member's success. Because the position is housed in Indianapolis and the majority of Alumni Marketing staff members work out of the Bloomington IUAAIUAA headquarters, the position demands responsibility, problem-solving, and a self-starting, detailed-oriented mindset.
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, business, informatics, or closely related field and one year experience in agency project coordination, web, or interactive media production.
Possess a valid driver's license with the ability to be insured by Indiana University.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills including ability to communicate clearly and effectively, offer exceptional customer service, and effectively manage relationships with clients and team members. Strong organizational and time management skills including ability to work effectively under deadlines, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and manage data accurately. Must be able to use a Mac or PC; and demonstrated proficiency and experience with a web content management system.
Two years of experience in higher education or a non-profit organization; understanding of and experience using Adobe Creative Cloud software, particularly InDesign and Photoshop; experience with an email service provider such as ExactTarget and a web-based project management system such as Workfront.
