The University of Massachusetts Amherst Department of Athletics is accepting applications for a Director of Marketing and Digital Strategy.
Position Summary: Lead the development and execution of strategies and initiatives to build the UMass Athletics brand across sports programs, constituent groups, and digital channels. This position serves as a key leader in driving creativity and ideation for UMass Athletics. Responsible for planning and execution of all digital marketing activities for UMass' 21 Sports and associated UMass Athletics ticketed events.
Assist in carrying out ticketing and attendance-based strategic initiatives across UMass Athletics’ portfolio of ticketed sports in terms of ideation, initiating the creative process and managing the process from development to actualization. Manage all digital communications and advertising activities related to ticketing, promotions, departmental news, and schedule information. Assist in building strategies for developing and promoting the UMass Athletics brand, including digital media content creation and distribution.
Support marketing strategies for all social network pages, including the development of fan interaction initiatives and marketing/promotional opportunities to enhance brand awareness, sales opportunities, and peer-to-peer advocacy.
Work closely with Communications/PR unit on maintenance of the official UMass Athletics website (UMassAthletics.com) and microsites, and support current official technological applications and other new technologies related to ticketing.
Oversee the development of graphic designs for media projects to include posters, media guides, promotional graphics, advertising, schedule cards, tickets, game programs, and other creative efforts.
Continually refine utilization of digital platforms, and keep up-to-date with cutting edge industry strategies and best practices.
Assist with Box Office initiatives at certain times of the year. Perform other duties as assigned.
Required to work some nights and weekends.
Bachelor's degree in sports management, athletic administration, business administration or related field, and two years of relevant database/digital marketing or technology-related experience.
Familiarity with word processing and spreadsheets.
Ability to work effectively with diverse user groups.
Content/graphics creation and marketing automation platforms.
Knowledge of CRM and marketing automation platforms.
Two years of experience in athletic marketing or sales with a Division I intercollegiate or professional sport organization.
Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.
Knowledge of Paciolan ticketing system.
Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $41,900 - $52,500 NORMAL STARTING SALARY: $41,900 - $47,200 PROFESSIONAL STAFF SALARY ADMINISTRATION PROGRAM POSITION LEVEL 26.
