The Assistant Director of Digital Marketing for the Office for External Education at Harvard Medical School plays a leadership role in the development and implementation of digital marketing strategies and initiatives for the department and its business units. This position will report to the Senior Director of Marketing for the Office for External Education, working closely with the department's units to advance goals and objectives. As a key component of the role, the Assistant Director of Digital Marketing will lead marketing execution for Harvard Health Publishing and its various content development, digital marketing, and social initiatives.
The ideal candidate will be skilled in using digital platforms to set direction and advance HMS content strategy. They will have deep expertise in digital marketing and content marketing best practices (including web development, social media management, digital newsletter creation, and user experience design. They will possess demonstrated editorial insights and experience in growing and engaging audiences online.
The ideal candidate understands the HMS mission and its prominent role in medical and healthcare education. They are a strong advocate for the power of digital content to move HMS audiences to action. They have proven talents as a storyteller and a driving curiosity for what's new in digital marketing. A smart, strategic thinker with editorial instincts, writing skills, and a good sense of design.
Craft, oversee, and optimize digital media strategies that meaningfully connect with the HMS Office for External Education's varied audiences across all of its channels—including websites, blogs, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
Direct digital marketing activities for Harvard Health Publishing (HHP) including developing and sending e-newsletters; building, maintaining, and executing social media calendars; web development; and related marketing projects that advance HHP initiatives. Collaborate with external publishing partners, as needed.
Lead adoption of Marketing Cloud tools across External Education and its business units.
Develop strategies to grow audience base and deepen audience engagement.
Define digital and social strategies to advance External Education initiatives.
Monitor analytics to ground HMS engagement strategies in audience interests and behaviors. This includes using insights from analytics to evaluate the effectiveness of content and marketing projects.
Stay abreast and share trends in digital media and audience engagement.
Identify opportunities to launch new digital channels or evolve existing External Education channels to align with goals and audience engagement strategies.
Leverage opportunities to share content across units, and to repurpose content developed by the HMS Office for External Education and other areas of the School.
