The Vice President, Marketing and Communications is responsible for setting the corporate external and internal communications agenda for Baystate Health, a large integrated healthcare system with more than 12,000 employees, a 1,200-member medical staff, and net patient service revenue of more than $2.4 billion. This dynamic and growing system includes five-member hospitals and a 400-physician medical group. The Vice President of Marketing and Communications manages a staff of 25 FTEs. Direct reports include: Director of Marketing, Director of Communications, and Director of Public Affairs/Media Relations. The Vice President designs and manages message development of all initiatives associated with public affairs, employee communications, media relations, crisis communications, marketing, advertising, marketing research, intranet/internet/social media/digital content, loyalty programs and special events.
A bachelor’s degree in business, communications, or a related area is required, master’s degree is preferred. Educational concentration/specialization in marketing is strongly preferred. Education in digital marketing and analytics is a plus. 7-10 years progressive marketing and communications leadership within a large, complex, multi-entity and matrixed organization is required. Prior health care industry experience is required, as is prior experience in digital marketing.
