Tufts Gordon Institute (TGI), an integral part of Tufts School of Engineering, helps students to develop the knowledge and skills they need to become leaders capable of addressing the challenges of the 21st century. Tufts Gordon Institute programs include: a Master of Science in Engineering Management (MSEM) for technology professionals; a Master of Science in Innovation and Management (MSIM) for recent STEM graduates; a professional education program (PE) tailored to the needs of practicing engineers; and undergraduate minors in entrepreneurship and engineering management for Tufts students. The Gordon Institute is also home to Tufts Entrepreneurship Center, which focuses on developing innovative thinkers with entrepreneurial mindsets across all disciplines in the Tufts University community. All of TGI's activities leverage a visionary approach to fostering creativity and leadership development that helps students to gain the knowledge, skills, confidence, and experience they need to advance their careers and become leaders of the innovation economy.
Reporting to Tufts Gordon Institute's Director of Marketing and Admissions, the Manager of Marketing & Communications leads the development and implementation of a fully integrated marketing and communications strategy to build the Gordon Institute brand, attract high caliber students, and actively engage a wide range of internal and external constituencies (eg., students, alumni, corporate and university partners). He/she manages all web initiatives, including design and development, content management system, usability, SEO optimization and content; oversees content development and delivery for social media, email marketing, blog posts, newsletters, landing pages, presentations, paid advertising, videos, print and other collateral; and identifies and manages relationships with external vendors and agencies. The Marketing and Communications Manager also tracks the performance of marketing activities, reviewing key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive improvements to the marketing plan.
The position responsibilities include supervision of the digital marketing and communications specialist and management of the marketing budget.
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications or related field and 5-7 years of experience.
Strong written/oral communication ability.
Exceptional project management skills and the demonstrated ability to develop and implement marketing strategies in a fast paced environment.
Advanced word processing (MS Office Suite), spreadsheet and database skills required.
Experience with marketing automation software (Hubspot or other), and PPC marketing techniques and tools (such as Google Adwords).
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement web strategy and familiarity with Wordpress or other content management system (CMS); web analytics platform (such as Google Analytics); and Search Engine Marketing/Search Engine Optimization (SEM/SEO).
Experience in higher education marketing, communications and admissions.
Familiarity with desktop publishing and graphic design software.
Special Work Schedule Requirements: The standard work week is M-F 9am-5pm, 52 weeks per year. However, some Gordon Institute programs are offered on weeknights and Saturdays and some events are held in the evenings. As a result, this position may require occasional evening hours (averaging several nights per month).
