AMWA’s mission is to promote excellence in medical communication and to provide educational resources in support of that goal. The Marketing Manager integrates AMWA’s mission and value proposition into a content marketing strategy designed to increase membership, member engagement, and participation in AMWA educational programs.
The Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and implementing an intelligent, data-driven inbound marketing plan. The manager will help to create content of interest to the medical writing community, distribute the content through the appropriate media channels to reach target audiences, and measure the impact of such activities. The Marketing Manager also supports the delivery of timely and relevant content through Medical Communication News and the AMWA Journal.
The position requires a collaborative approach in working with staff and volunteers to produce well-coordinated and executed marketing plans.

Summary of responsibilities
Build and manage a content marketing plan that attracts a qualified audience to the AMWA website and related systems
Develop and oversee execution of overall marketing and digital strategy that contributes to raising AMWA’s profile and communicating the value of its membership and education programs.
Optimize use of website properties, social media platform performance, paid advertising, search engine marketing, and performance data analysis.
Oversee marketing automation and lead nurturing processes through marketing automation software, email, landing pages, and social channels.
Establish analytic reporting processes to understand how our inbound marketing activity turns leads into members and/or customers, and continually refine our process to improve conversions.
Ability to analyze, make recommendations, and take action on digital analytics and social performance
Curate or create content our audience is looking for and optimize the path to conversion
Use best practices in SEO, content categorization and structure, content development, distribution and measurement.
Work with graphic designer, including the conceptualization of graphics, to align campaign creative with content and key messaging for use on various platforms.
Ensure content is consistent with our brand voice, style, and tone.
Stay on top of the latest trends and explore potential new media platforms as for possible integration into marketing strategy.
Oversee an integrated and creative social media strategy, develop targeted social media campaigns, and manage social advertising
Provide support to the AMWA Journal as staff liaison to the Journal Editorial Board; harness Journal content for integration into marketing campaigns as appropriate.
Work with outside vendor for creation on Medical Communication News; harness content for integration into marketing campaigns as appropriate.
Work with education team for content development when necessary
BA/BS or equivalent working experience
Experience with digital marketing automation systems preferred
Experience with content management systems, Google analytics, and the top social channels required
Experience creating content for the web and growing a social audience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent communicator and creative thinker, with an ability to use data to inform all decisions
Ability to travel to the annual conference; flexibility to work extended hours as needed
