The Boston Conservatory at Berklee Associate Director of Marketing and Communications oversees operations and key processes/policies relating to the Conservatory’s marketing and communications efforts. Process-oriented with a focus on planning, policy-setting, and workflow management, this role works closely with the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications to set departmental goals, devise marketing and communications strategies, and ensure effective rollout within the marketing and communications team. The Associate Director regularly evaluates departmental processes and operations by monitoring production schedules, project budgets, and brand integrity, and recommending changes to the Senior Director, as needed. In the absence of the Senior Director, the Associate Director assumes leadership of the Conservatory’s Marketing and Communications Department, acting on behalf of the Senior Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist Senior Director on identifying department goals and evaluating progress.
Collaborate with marketing team to brainstorm and develop new marketing initiatives in support of institutional goals and objectives.
Monitor and evaluate departmental operations and processes to maximize efficiency, improve workflow, and enhance production quality.
Report regularly on departmental progress.
Track departmental spending and advise on budget allocation as appropriate.
Oversee project deliverables on time, on budget, and to institutional standards.
Assign projects and tasks to staff, students, and vendors, as appropriate.
Vet production timelines and schedules with marketing team for approval with department
Work closely with the Senior Director and Conservatory Lead Graphic Designer to inspire creative that captures the Conservatory’s brand.
Assist in the discerning review of messaging, graphics, and brand style of all marketing and communications print and digital collateral before finalization and distribution.
Monitor upkeep and performance of owned (non-paid) social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and Snapchat.
Supervise photo and video shoots, as required.
Attend institutional events, as required.
Hire, train, and supervise student workers and, as necessary, contractors.
Liaise with external vendors, as well as departments across campus.
Assume Senior Director-role responsibilities and represent the marketing and communications team in the absence of the Senior Director.
(On-going) Lead and manage development and production of STAGES, the institution’s bi-annual magazine.
